Boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko has joined the Ukrainian army as the country prepares itself for a potential war with Russia.Russia has sent around 100,000 troops - equipped with tanks, artillery and ammunition - to the country's border with Ukraine.Such a move has left many nations fearing that the Russian premiere Vladimir Putin could be planning an invasion of the country.While Russia denies those suggestions, the country has said it could be forced into military action unless security demands are met.

It wants guarantees that Ukraine will not join Nato, a defensive alliance comprised of 30 countries.Klitschko, one of the biggest names in boxing, is prepared to do whatever it takes to defend his homeland from a Russian invasion.

The 45-year-old, who held the world heavyweight championship twice during a highly successful boxing career, has signed up as a reserve for the territorial army.

While Russia denies the claims, the country has said that it could take military action unless its security demands are met, after opposing Ukraine's decision to join the US-led NATO military alliance."I signed up as a reserve for the territorial forces, for defending the city of Kyiv, because of everything that is currently going on around Ukraine and the aggression from the Russian side," he said.
