Kevin Spacey took the stand Thursday in his sexual assault trial in London, denying allegations made by four accusers and telling the jury that he considered his actions with one of the men «romantic.» The Hollywood star was in the witness box for the first time during the trial, at which he's facing a total of 12 charges including sexual assault, indecent assault and one more serious charge of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.Spacey has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges, which stem from allegations made by four men over incidents that occurred in the U.K. over a two decade period.Giving evidence at London's Southwark Crown Court, the Academy award winner said he had a consensual relationship with one of his accusers that was «somewhat intimate.» Spacey said he had been flirtatious with the man and that a relationship «developed over time.»«We enjoyed each other's company,» the actor told the court, adding that he «would have taken the lead.» Spacey said he had touched the man in «intimate» areas and that while there was consensual sexual activity between them, he denied committing any forceful act.«It did not happen in a violent, aggressive, painful way… it was gentle and, in my mind, romantic,» Spacey said.

King recently told Rolling Stone that he was a Chalamet “stan” and thus knew the actor had the singing and dancing chops required to play Wonka. “It was a straight offer because he’s great and he was the only person in my mind who could do it,” King said. “But because he’s Timothée Chalamet and his life is so absurd, his high school musical performances are on YouTube and have hundreds of thousands of views. So I knew from stanning for Timmy Chalamet that he could sing and dance really well.”

The negative impact of that has been commercial disappointments in theaters, be it “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” not even getting past the $500 million worldwide or disappointing openings for summer tentpoles “Elemental” and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” “There have been some disappointments we would have liked some of our more recent releases to perform better,” Iger said. “It’s reflective not as a problem from a personnel perspective, but I think in our in our zeal to basically grow our content significantly to serve mostly our streaming offerings, we ended up taxing our people way beyond — in terms of their time and their focus — way beyond where they had been.”

The union’s contract officially expired at midnight. In a statement, the union said that the negotiating committee had voted unanimously to recommend a strike. The union’s national board is expected to meet Thursday morning to call a strike, which would immediately halt scripted film and TV production by the companies represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Fran Drescher, the president of SAG-AFTRA, said in a statement that the AMPTP’s responses to its key issues were “insulting and disrespectful.”

Contract negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP broke off tonight, and the guild’s national board will meet Thursday morning to formally approve the launch of a strike.

On one hand, Mazin’s show just earned 24 Emmy nominations — more than any other show this year besides HBO peer “Succession.” Highlights include lead acting nods for Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey; a whopping seven guest acting nods including deaf 10-year-old actor Kevionn Montreal Woodard; and another in the outstanding drama series category. But on the other, Mazin is a proud member of the Writers Guild of America, which has been on strike for 72 days against the studios, networks and streamers that make up the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

Variety has learned the studio is rolling out the red carpet an hour earlier than originally planned — moving from 5:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. local time — with the hope that the 60 minutes will allow the cast, which includes stars like Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh, to pose for photos and participate in interviews without going against SAG-AFTRA strike rules. Though the negotiations deadline comes on midnight Wednesday, the SAG-AFTRA board would still have to meet on Thursday to vote and confirm the call for the strike. Universal execs believe such an event may not happen before the premiere takes place.

Ray Liotta was posthumously nominated for an Emmy Wednesday for his role in the crime drama "Black Bird."  "I am so grateful to the members of the Television Academy for honoring my Dad with this nomination," the late actor’s daughter Karsen Liotta said in a statement sent to Fox News Digital. "He was so incredibly proud of his performance in ‘Black Bird,’ and it would mean the world to him to be nominated alongside Taron [Egerton] and Paul [Walter Hauser]."   The 24-year-old also wrote she was "so proud" of her father on her Instagram Story.  Liotta’s fiancée Jacy Nittolo called the nomination "well deserved" on her Instagram Story.  Liotta stars as Taron Egerton’s father in the Apple TV+ series about a drug dealer (Egerton) who cuts a deal with the FBI to befriend a serial killer (Walter Hauser).  Liotta and Walter Hauser were both nominated for their supporting roles, and Egerton was nominated for his lead role in the series, which was released on the streaming service a year ago.The show also received a nomination for cinematography.  The series, which was inspired by "actual events," follows Jimmy Keene [Egerton] as he begins a 10-year prison sentence, [and] gets an incredible offer.
