Fontaines D.C. have reflected on losing out to The Rolling Stones at the 2025 Grammys, joking that they think they need to be over the age of 40 to take home a trophy.It was announced at the end of 2024 that the Dublin post-punk heroes had secured a Best Rock Album nomination for ‘Romance‘.They were up against IDLES’ ‘Tangk‘, Green Day’s ‘Saviours‘, Jack White‘s ‘No Name‘, Pearl Jam‘s ‘Dark Matter‘, The Black Crowes‘s ‘Happiness Bastards’ and Rolling Stones’ 2024 album ‘Hackney Diamonds‘.It was their second nomination after the Dublin post-punk heroes were also up for Best Rock Album for ‘A Hero’s Death’ in 2021, but the trophy for the 2025 edition ultimately went to Mick Jagger and co.

The Cure’s Robert Smith has been announced as the curator for the 2025 edition of the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) gig series.The iconic frontman has been a long supporter of the charity series, which is held at Royal Albert Hall, having previously performed two classic shows in 2014 and in 2006. He was also heavily involved in the TCT’s UNSEEN campaign during lockdown – helping the charity raise funds for those struggling during that period.It won’t be his first time taking the reins a live music event either, as he has also curated the line-up for the 2018 edition of Meltdown Festival, which was held at the Southbank Centre and saw performances from Mogwai, The Psychedelic Furs, The Church and Nine Inch Nails.He will personally curate the concerts in 2026, following the series founder and The Who icon Roger Daltrey stepping back.

R.E.M.’s ‘Lifes Rich Pageant’.The tour marks the 40th anniversary of Michael Stipe and co’s 1986 fourth studio album and follows Shannon and Narducy touring the band’s ‘Murmer’ in 2024 and ‘Fables of the Reconstruction’ this year. Glass Animals have announced an extension of their ‘Tour Of Earth’, with a batch of extra North American shows to take place this summer.The tour began last August in support of their fourth studio album ‘I Love You So F***ing Much’, which was released in April last year. They originally played strings of shows in North America, the UK and Europe, with support from artists including The Big Moon, Kevin Abstract and Blondshell.Now, they have confirmed that they will be continuing ‘Tour Of Earth’ in June and August this year, kicking off the new leg in Saratoga Springs, New York on June 7.
