That said, there’s a right way to make one of these. “Mass,” the 2021 Sundance drama in which four parents gathered in a church antechamber for a painfully cathartic encounter session (two of them were the parents of a victim; two were the parents of the shooter), was a movie that walked a delicate tightrope.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic A judge in Delaware has dismissed a lawsuit filed against Showtime over the limited series “George & Tammy” and its portrayal of the late George Richey, who was married to Tammy Wynette after her divorce from George Jones. In tossing the suit out, the judge ruled that, whatever merits there might be to the complaints of the plaintiff, Sheila Slaughter Richey, there was no basis for including Showtime Networks in the suit at all, let alone as the sole defendant. The suit hadclaimed that George Richey was disparaged and made into the villain of “George & Richey.” Judge Stephanos Bibas did not take issue with that characterization made by Sheila Slaughter Richey’s lawyers, and he dismissed it without prejudice, meaning it could be refiled.

R.E.M.’s ‘Lifes Rich Pageant’.The tour marks the 40th anniversary of Michael Stipe and co’s 1986 fourth studio album and follows Shannon and Narducy touring the band’s ‘Murmer’ in 2024 and ‘Fables of the Reconstruction’ this year. The UK leg of the latter is set to kick off on August 19 in Manchester, before making stops in Glasgow, Nottingham, Bristol and London.

R.E.M. made a surprise appearance yet again last night (February 27) during a tribute gig celebrating their classic debut album ‘Murmur’.All four members of the band – Michael Stipe, Bill Berry, Peter Buck and Mike Mills – made an unexpected return to the 40 Watt Club venue in their home city of Athens, Georgia as part of actor Michael Shannon and musician Jason Narducy’s current tour – which sees the pair play 1983’s ‘Murmur’ in full along with a handful of their favourite R.E.M. songs.It comes just over a year after the band did the same thing in 2024.
