Fontaines D.C. have announced the cancellation of several tour dates across South America due to frontman Grian Chatten sustaining an injury – find out more below.Today (March 18), Chatten took to the band’s official Instagram account to share a statement via Instagram Stories, where he revealed he has suffered a herniated disc and requires “urgent medical attention”.
As a result, Fontaines D.C.’s next five dates are being cancelled.Chatten wrote: “I am devastated to announce that, due to a herniated disc, we must cancel our show in Mexico tomorrow night and our forthcoming dates in Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia.”He continued: “I have been really excited to play these beautiful countries for years and it really hurts to be here in Mexico City and not be able to go onstage, but I have been advised today, that I require urgent medical attention.
We are very grateful for all your support and, with all my heart, I am sorry that I can’t play for you.”At the time of writing, it would appear that these shows are being cancelled entirely, as there is no indication that the band are working on rescheduling the five gigs for later dates.The cancellation of the band’s South American tour dates come shortly after the band wrapped up their Japan, Australia and New Zealand tour earlier this month.
