Scottish country dancing in the Stewartry has been handed a boost.The council’s Active Schools and community sport team has joined forces with the Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership and Castle Douglas Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society to provide a Jigs and Reels teaching pack for every school in the district.Not only does it give staff the tools they need to teach dance each year, it will also help the face-to-face instruction offered by volunteers at local clubs to staff and pupils.Secretary of the Castle Douglas branch, David Foreman, said: “The branch has been delighted to work with the Active Schools team to support the roll-out of the Jigs and Reels programme in the Stewartry schools.
