Police hunting culprits who set fire to a 4G phone mast fire  in Ayr are appealing for further information.Thugs caused £50,000 damage to the EE mast at Fulshaw Wood Farm off the Whitletts roundabout after setting it alight.The blaze happened in darkness on Thursday, April 9 at around 10.45pm.The attack took place after fake conspiracy claims spread around the UK linking 5G masts to coronavirus.Forensics examinations have taken place at the farmland site and items have been seized for analysis.

Chief Inspector Brian Anderson, Area Commander for South Ayrshire said: “We are appealing to members of the public who may have any information relating to this deliberate fire to come forward. “There are no 5G phone masts in Ayrshire at this time
