Russian President Vladimir Putin faces a war crime investigation similar to the Nazi Nuremberg trial. Since Putin’s bloody invasion of Ukraine last month, international condemnation of the tyrannical despot has been rife with 1.3 million people from around the world now making their voice heard.

The petition, titled ‘Put Putin on Trial’, has set a goal of 1.5 million signatures and implores “citizens of the world” to do the right thing. It reads: "As citizens from across the world, we urgently call on you to hold Putin and his accomplices personally accountable for their illegal invasion of Ukraine by creating a new Special Tribunal for the punishment of the crime of aggression."We also call on you to fully support the International Criminal Court's separate investigation into alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine."There will never be peace without such accountability - we are counting on you."Of course, it is heavily unlikely Putin would ever go to trial on his terms and as the conflict changes every day it is impossible to guess how the war will ultimately play out.

However, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba has repeatedly stressed that it's their intention to put Russia’s leaders before a tribunal.
