Manchester United to appoint three-time Champions League winning manager Zinedine Zidane as the club's new head coach.The Red Devils have this week stepped up their efforts to appoint their next permanent manager at Old Trafford as club chiefs interviewed Ajax boss Erik ten Hag on Monday.
The Dutchman is one of two frontrunners for the job alongside Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino.The pair are believed to be joined on United's four-man shortlist by Sevilla's Julen Lopetegui and Spain national team boss Luis Enrique.
However, McCoist questioned the absence of former Real Madrid coach Zidane on that list. During a debate with fellow talkSPORT host Alan Brazil over who should succeed current interim Ralf Rangnick come the end of the season, McCoist admitted he is unsure why the Frenchman, who guided Real Madrid to three successive Champions League crowns, isn't in contention for the United role.
He told talkSPORT: "The one name I haven't heard anything from is Zidane. "Clearly, the one thing he can do and do on a regular basis is win the Champions League.
