Manchester United.The Dutchman is expected to join the Red Devils on a deal of up to four years when he leaves Ajax in the summer, according to The Athletic.

He will take charge as manager once current interim boss Ralf Rangnick steps down and begins his consultancy role at the end of the season.Ten Hag was interviewed by United two weeks ago and impressed United chiefs enough to become the frontrunner.

It is understood the 52-year-old sought several assurances before turning down a new contract with Ajax and agreeing United's offer, which should run until 2026.The Athletic report Ajax are aware of the situation and still need to reach a deal with United.

United also need to finalise details and documentation.However, there will be no written agreement or announcement until after Ajax's Dutch Cup final against PSV Eindhoven on April 17, out of respect for his current club.
