Illuminight won't be taking place this year due to the coronavirus. And council chiefs have revealed that the annual Kilmarnock light festival isn’t turning a profit yet and isn’t expected to until its fifth year.
This year would’ve been the fourth incarnation of the event. The event has proved hugely popular with tourists with more than half of ticket sales coming from outwith Ayrshire.The council have said that profits generated by Illuminight were scheduled to be reinvested into Dean Castle Country Park or other leisure facilities.An East Ayrshire Council spokeswoman told the Kilmarnock Standard: “East Ayrshire Leisure has not carried out specific analysis regarding the impact of Illuminight on the local economy.“The Illuminight event
