A drug addict burglar fell on a sleeping five-year-old boy during an early-hours break-in. 'Menance' Mark Horrocks left the child's mother terrified.

The 45-year-old broke into the home, in Ashton-under-Lyne in Tameside, at around 5am before falling 'on top' of the young boy as he slept on a sofa bed in the living room near his mum.

Horrocks - who has 111 previous offences - claimed he was 'looking for someone'. Following a 'commotion', the mum was able to get him out of the house.

A judge said that while Horrocks didn't steal anything, there was a 'degree of terror' to the crime. Minshull Street Crown Court heard that in a separate incident, Horrocks spent a night in a shopping centre after being unable to escape when he and another man
