A man who broke into grounds of Buckingham Palace, where Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II lives, while carrying a kitchen knife inside an envelope has managed to avoid going to jail.
Cameron Kalani, 44, was seen by security guards scaling the fence and entering The Royal Mews on 10 May last year. He was then arrested after climbing back onto Buckingham Palace Road.
Kalani has now pleaded guilty to trespassing on a protected site, possession of a bladed article and possession of a wrap of cocaine.
However, he was spared from being thrown into jail as he was handed a 24-week sentence that has been suspended for 12 months at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 9 February.
