Chelsea fans would reject a club takeover from the Ricketts family, a recent supporters' survey has suggested.Although operating under a special footballing licence, Chelsea are still under sanctions due to their Russian owner Roman Abramovich, and it's believed that the club will be sold in the near future.
One of the potential candidates to takeover the club is the Ricketts family, although speculation has received backlash from the fans.The Chelsea Supporters' Trust have been consolidated throughly as the club search for a new owner, with the Ricketts family even requesting to meet with the group following a #NoToRicketts hashtag that trended on Twitter.
But a survey conducted by the trust has revealed that 77 per cent of fans would reject a takeover from the family.Father of the family, Joe Ricketts, has no role in the bid to buy Chelsea, but they have received backlash as former emails leaked from 2019 saw him brand Muslims "my enemy", and now the trust has spoken out.
In a statement released on Saturday, the CST wrote: "Last week, the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust stated that the Ricketts family must urgently and publicly address supporter concerns."Especially with regard to inclusivity, given both past and recent statements by members of the family.
