Bid to transform former Johnstone pub into gym

A former watering hole in Johnstone could see bar stools replaced by barbells as permission has been granted for the site to be transformed into a gym.

The building is located at number 11a on the town’s High Street.The proposed gym will occupy a ground floor unit within a parade of commercial units.Renfrewshire Council planning chiefs have given the go ahead for the development of the gym.

A report on the decision from the planning department states that the proposed gym will contain “a range of internal and external equipment catering for all levels from beginner to experienced, along with a range of fitness and nutrition classes”.Before the gym can come into operation, a noise impact survey must be submitted to the council.
