Car left burnt out after 'exploding' and bursting into flames

A car was left completely burnt out after bursting into roaring flames following an 'explosion' in Burnage on Saturday night (August 26).

The vehicle caught fire on Lane End Road, near to the junction with Kingsway, at around 8.50pm. Emergency services attended the scene where the car was already found 'well alight'.

Witnesses reported hearing a 'big bang' and 'explosion' before the car went up in flames. Crews were reportedly at the scene within just two minutes and closed off the road. The Seat had partially melted with the exterior left scorched and blackened by the flames. The cause of the blaze has not been confirmed.
