An unlikely club reportedly rejected the chance to sign Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek. The Dutch midfielder was a man in serious demand when he arrived at Old Trafford from Ajax in 2020.
Van de Beek was part of the side that, under the tutelage of Erik ten Hag, made the whole of European football take notice as they impressed in the Champions League.
However, the 26-year-old has struggled to earn a consistent run of games for the Reds and has considerably fallen down the pecking order, despite being reunited with his former boss.
Since the 2021/22 campaign, Van de Beek has made just 24 appearances for the Reds, including eight starts, and is deemed surplus to requirements.
