ANTIQUES Roadshow viewers were all left saying the same thing after a guest learned the staggering value of a roll of wallpaper.
On Sunday's instalment of the BBC show, a guest became flabbergasted after learning that one roll of wallpaper he'd had in his loft for 40 years was worth four figures.
Appearing on the show, the man in question was inquisitive to find out how much his wallpaper by Walter Crane was worth. Antique specialist Mark Hill was completely taken aback by the roll of wallpaper from the early 1900s and asked the guest: "Where on earth did you find this?" To which the man replied: "More than 40 years ago I was at agricultural college and got a weekend job with a friend. "A farmer wanted the top floor of an oast house cleared for some French students and he said 'Anything that will burn, burn, anything that won't burn, just put to one side'." The man explained that he kept the wallpaper because he loved it, but it has spent the last 40 years in his loft because he "didn't know what else to do with it".
The antique specialist then revealed what he thought the entire roll would sell for, leaving the owner stunned and viewers at home equally so. "If you were to sell it to somebody, my feeling is maybe £3,000," Mark revealed.
