It was submitted the same day the court ruled in favour of their label, ADOR, and granted the company an injunction against the girl group, prohibiting them from pursuing work as independent artists.On the same day as the legal objection, NewJeans’ parents also released a statement on Instagram, addressing the court’s decisions.

ARTMS renew contracts with Modhaus

ARTMS have renewed their exclusive contracts with label, Modhaus.On March 26, The Korea Times reported a statement from Modhaus announcing the quintet’s contract renewals. It comes a little over two years since the former LOONA members – JinSoul, HeeJin, Kim Lip, Choerry and HaSeul – joined the label’s roster, after terminating their contracts with their previous label in 2023.Modhaus wrote in its statement that it has worked with ARTMS through a “transparent settlement process”, where their “meticulous management and various album and content plans” made the band’s choice to renew with the company a “natural” one.The company also added that both parties have established a “vision and systemic strategy for the future” during contract renewal discussions.

$5million worth of HYBE shares stolen from BTS’ Jungkook by hacker

HYBE shares were stolen from BTS‘ Jungkook by an unidentified hacker.Yonhap News Agency reported on March 22 that the hacker had opened an unauthorised account under Jungkook’s name in January 2024, which was notably just a month after the K-pop idol had enlisted for mandatory military service.They then transferred 33,000 HYBE shares from the K-pop star’s account to the newly opened account, before selling 500 more shares to a third-party investor. At the time, the shares stolen held a total value of about ₩8.4billion (US$5.7million).Jungkook’s label and HYBE subsidiary, Big Hit Music, told press that immediate action was taken following the hack: “As soon as the company and the artist became aware of the criminal activity, we took measures such as suspending payments to the account and restoring the original value to prevent substantial damage.”On top of this, Jungkook also filed a lawsuit for the return of the 500 shares sold.

ADOR‘s request for an injunction preventing NewJeans (aka NJZ) from pursuing independent activities under their new name.Today (March 21), the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 50 ruled in favour of ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE, granting the company’s injunction to prevent NewJeans from carrying out activities independently under their new name, NJZ.According to sources from South Korean news publications News1 and SBS, per Soompi, the injunction also prevents the girl group from signing advertising contracts on their own. NewJeans have yet to issue a public response to the injunction.ADOR first filed the injunction in January.

According to the outlet, the petition had been open for signatures since February 24 and included both international and domestic fans.This comes after the first hearing for the injunction last week, where ADOR notably expanded the scope of its injunction for the court to ban all of NJZ’s independent music and entertainment activities, on top of the initial attempt to prevent independent brand deals.“We support the members’ termination of their exclusive contracts,” read the fans’ statement.
