World Cup TV schedule released - and England's 'ITV curse' could continue

England will be hoping that ITV's 'curse' won't continue at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar next November.The idea of the ITV curse came about after the Three Lions' 1998 World Cup campaign in France.

Since that summer, England have struggled for wins on the TV channel, with only six wins on ITV compared to 17 over on the BBC.Ahead of last summer's Euro 2020, England only had four wins on the channel - and one of those wins was broadcast on both channels simultaneously.

Gareth Southgate's side now know what channel they will be playing on under the winter sun.England kick-off their World Cup campaign on the opening day with a first international clash against Iran, and the BBC have the rights for the clash.ITV's first chance to broadcast England will come on the Three Lions' second matchday when Southgate's side face the USA.

England have previously played the US on ITV at the 2010 World Cup - resulting in a 1-1 draw alongside a Rob Green howler.England's final group stage game - which could be a Home Nations derby - will be back on the BBC. What do you think of the ITV 'curse'?
