Just one in five people in the North and Midlands believes Boris Johnson is doing enough to “level-up” the economy, a poll reveals today.
The Prime Minister won an 80-seat Commons majority last December by seizing “Red Wall” seats in traditional Labour strongholds, with his pledge to “level-up” tempting first-time Tory voters.
But an online Censuswide survey for campaign group HS2 East reveals voters now doubt the election promise. The findings were seized on by high speed rail supporters pressing for HS2's eastern leg to be guaranteed in a bid to boost economic revival.
