Victoria Derbyshire presented BBC News yesterday with the phone number for a national domestic abuse helpline written on her hand.
The journalist made the move after charity Refuge announced a 25 per cent rise in calls and online requests for support amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Derbyshire was compelled after hearing the figures, following previous warnings from campaigners that a UK lockdown could be devastating for those who are living in abusive households.
