Trainee GMP police officer denies sexually assaulting woman

A student police officer today is to stand trial after denying sexually assaulting a woman. Trainee Greater Manchester Police (GMP) constable Ryan Pointon, 28, is charged with sexual assault involving touching the alleged victim’s inner thigh on March 25 last year.

Mr Pointon today (Wednesday April 27) appeared in court where he entered a not guilty to the charge. He had previously indicated he would be denying the accusation but formally entered his plea during the hearing at Liverpool Crown Court.

Mr Pointon, of The Meadows, Prestwich, was further remanded on bail by a judge ahead of his trial. That has been listed to start on March 6 next year and is expected to last four to five days. To sign up for our court newsletter click here
