Torvill and Dean announce retirement as they confirm Glasgow OVO Hydro farewell tour dates

British ice skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have announced they will retire from skating next year, marking the 40th anniversary of their Olympic gold win.

They also revealed details of a farewell tour in 2025, which includes a performance at Glasgow's OVO Hydro on May 11 which will be their last stop on their final live tour.Tickets for the tour, named 'Our Last Dance', went on sale today, known as 'Bolero Day' to the pair.

Torvill and Dean made history with their Bolero routine at the 1984 Winter Games, setting a record for the highest score ever achieved for a single programme.This launched a successful run that saw them never place lower than first in any competition for the next decade, ending with a bronze at the 1994 Olympics.Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean shared their feelings about returning to Sarajevo and their upcoming farewell tour.

They said: "Following the kind invitation from the Mayor, we are thrilled to be back in Sarajevo 40 years on from that memorable day. "Returning to the city which provided such a life-changing moment for us is incredibly nostalgic and brings back so many wonderful memories."They also announced their final tour, saying: "We're also feeling very emotional as we announce our 2025 farewell tour: 'Torvill and Dean: Our Last Dance'. "Whilst we will continue to work together off the ice, this will be the final time we will skate together following our 50-year partnership."They added: "But not without celebrating one final time with all of our incredible fans across the UK, who have supported us constantly over many years.
