A teenager has avoided paying thousands in compensation after damaging a luxury sports car. Scarlet Jane McPherson, 19, accidentally kicked a stone towards a Lotus Evora GT 410 while she out on a walk in Samford, Brisbane, last month.

But the driver of the £150,000 car and a witness claimed they saw Scarlet "throwing something out on the path" before they heard a loud bang as a rock hit the roof of the vehicle, according to prosecutor Graham Turner.

The teen was picked up by her mother after the furious driver chased her down and called the police, before being interviewed by officers on September 29, more than two-and-a-half weeks after the incident.
