Bastille have been announced as the final headliners of Kendal Calling 2022.The four-piece will top the bill at the Lowther Deer Park festival in July in place of The Streets, who were previously set to headline alongside Supergrass, Stereophonics and Haçienda Classical.Bastille, Supergrass, Stereophonics and Haçienda Classical now lead a line-up which includes Craig David, The Wombats, The Vaccines, Pale Waves, Sea Girls, Sports Team, Alfie Templeman, Baby Queen and more.You can see the latest line-up poster for Kendal Calling 2022, which will take place from July 28-31, below.All remaining tickets for Kendal Calling 2022 are on sale now from here.Speaking back in November about the return of the festival, which was cancelled in 2021, Kendal Calling co-founders Andy Smith and Ben Robinson said: “2022’s festival is three years in the making – organising festivals is never easy, yet despite the false starts and setbacks encountered we have never been more geared up as we prepare for the festival of a lifetime.“We are so very proud to announce our largest bill to date, keeping as many of those favourites you all booked for many moons ago while adding a bunch of big acts we have been working to bring to the fields for many years.

BODEGA have shared nine versions of their new single ‘Statuette On The Console’, each in a different language.Clocking in at just over two minutes, the ultra-catchy bubblegum-punk cut arrives in English, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Ukrainian.“‘Statuette on the Console’ is a celebration of shedding other people’s ideology. When writing the song I was trying to understand myself by exploring my values, but I could only come up against what I was not,” the band’s Nikki Belfiglio says.“The ability to believe and the comfort of ideology or isms is not one I have within me although as the song says, I myself live by my own inherited platitudes.”In addition to singing lead vocals on ‘Statuette’, Belfiglio also directed a video for the English version.

Lianne La Havas has announced a residency at the newly-restored London venue KOKO this spring.The singer-songwriter will play three dates at the venue, on May 9, 10 and 11. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am, and you can find them here.They will be La Havas’ first live shows since the release of her self-titled third album in July 2020, due to pandemic-related delays.The residency will also mark some of the first shows at KOKO for three years.

Nilüfer Yanya has shared the latest taste of her forthcoming second album – you can see a luxurious video for new single ‘anotherlife’ below.The visuals were shot while on holiday in Sri Lanka, and were directed by the London musician’s sister and frequent collaborator Molly Daniel.Yanya said of ‘anotherlife’: “At the core of the song it’s just about being OK with things and accepting that this is where you are at. However, the ‘I’ll do anything’ line hints at a desperation of wanting to let that be known.”‘anotherlife’ is the third single to be released from Yanya’s upcoming second album ‘Painless’, which is set to arrive on March 4 via ATO and follows 2019 debut ‘Miss Universe’.

Girl In Red has signed a new record deal with Columbia Records.The Norwegian artist, real name Marie Ulven, previously released music through a worldwide recordings deal with AWAL (Artists Without A Label), a company which offers independent musicians an alternative to working with a traditional record label.Following the success of her April 2021 debut album ‘If I Could Make It Go Quiet’, Ulven has now signed to Columbia for her future releases.The label confirmed the news to Variety yesterday (February 15), though neither Columbia or Girl In Red have officially announced the signing at the time of writing.Speaking to NME at Reading Festival back in August, Ulven confirmed that she was working on new Girl In Red material.“I’m already working on new stuff, I’m really excited to see what’s going to happen,” she said, before reiterating that she isn’t interested in releasing singles at the moment.“I still don’t think singles are that interesting. I honestly don’t even know at this point,” Ulven continued.

Foals have revealed that plans are afoot for side-projects and solo albums from within the band – including frontman Yannis Philippakis’ long-awaited record with Fela Kuti icon Tony Allen.The Oxford band were speaking to NME for this week’s Big Read cover story to launch their upcoming seventh album, ‘Life Is Yours’.Philippakis first revealed that he had been at work on a side-project with Fela Kuti percussionist Allen back in 2017, before telling NME of his plans to finish the record in April 2020 – just weeks before the icon died.Yannis has now revealed that he has plans to return to Paris, where Allen was living, to finish the project later this month – as well as discussing how the drummer’s passing shaped his own creative outlook during the writing of ‘Life Is Yours’.“In relation to Tony, it was understanding that even though he’s gone physically from the world, the music that he made will go on forever,” Philippakis told NME. “When I’m gone, the songs will hopefully live on.”He added: “There’s an alchemy in looking at music in that way.

Inhaler have announced details of a massive outdoor gig in their hometown of Dublin this summer, with Wet Leg and NewDad as support.The band will play Fairview Park on June 25 this year, with tickets on sale on Friday (February 18) at 9am GMT here.The show comes on the back of the band’s debut album, ‘It Won’t Always Be Like This’, which became the fastest-selling debut album on vinyl by any band this century. It also saw Inhaler become the first Irish band to top the Album Charts with a debut in 13 years – a record previously held by The Script.DUBLIN! The Ting Tings have shared their reaction to their 2008 single ‘That’s Not My Name’ going viral on TikTok.The indie-pop duo – Katie White and Jules De Martino – hit top spot in the UK charts with the track upon its release over a decade ago, beating Rihanna, Madonna and other stars to the top spot.‘That’s Not My Name’ has since sold over a million copies in total, and has received a newfound boost after it went viral on TikTok and became the soundtrack to videos by The Rock, Drew Barrymore and others.Speaking to Variety about the resurgence of the track, White said: “We’re [not good] at social media. I learned it was happening from my family.”“I didn’t think TikTok was really for us,” the singer and guitarist added, “but now we will probably use it for our next album.”“We’re thrilled,” De Martino added.

New track ‘Lonely’ follows recent singles ‘Sick’, ‘Sleeping With You’, ‘Hometown’ and ‘Again Again’.Discussing the new song, frontman Henry Camamile said: “It was written the day Ennio Morricone died, so was initially in honour of him, a nod to the good, the bad and the ugly – hence the whistle and the line ‘OK Corral’.“It’s about the best friend I probably should have gone out with, but never did.

TV Priest have shared a bleakly humorous video for their new single ‘One Easy Thing’, in which they soundtrack a knight’s final dance.The London band’s new track is the latest to be taken from their upcoming album, which will be released by Sub Pop later this year.The black-and-white ‘One Easy Thing’ video shows a 15th-century knight – played by singer Charlie Drinkwater – coming home from battle on his horse and noticing he’s bleeding. Before he succumbs to his injury, though, he embarks on one final “danse macabre”.“Writing ‘One Easy Thing’ was key to unlocking a more direct and personal approach to our songwriting,” Drinkwater said in a press release.

Modest Mouse have announced a new North American tour with The Cribs, due to take place this spring.The two bands have long had a link, with the Wakefield trio recruiting the Portland band’s Joe Plummer to add some percussion to some tracks in 2007. Later, in 2008, Johnny Marr completed his touring duties with Modest Mouse and left the line-up to join The Cribs, with whom he played for three years.Now the groups are hitting the road together for a number of gigs across North America, which will begin in Baltimore in April.

Cults have shared a new bonus track called ‘Valentine’, taken from the 10th anniversary edition of their self-titled debut album.The New York band was formed in 2010 by Brian Oblivion and Madeline Follin, with their first record released in June 2011 via In The Name Of.Cults shared the previously unreleased track yesterday (February 14), to coincide with Valentine’s Day. “Go, go on and show me those things that I used to know,” Follin sings on the song.

Massive Attack have announced a huge show set to take place in Dublin this summer, which will follow several gigs across Europe.The trip-hop collective – comprised of Robert “3D” Del Naja, Adrian “Tricky” Thaws and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall – will begin their summer itinerary at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival at the start of June.After visiting festivals and venues in Norway, Italy, Germany and France, the group will arrive in Dublin for a massive headline gig at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham on August 28.Tickets for the show will go on general sale at 10am on Friday (February 18) and will be available to purchase here. In November, Massive Attack helped launch a campaign to expose corporate “greenwashing” at COP26. Del Naja teamed up with green industrialist Dale Vince and artist Bill Posters to reveal the practice, which involves companies giving a false impression or providing misleading information about how environmentally sound their products are.“The general public are very much aware of the harm caused by the disinformation that is propagated via social media platforms,” Del Naja said at the time.

Super Furry Animals have called on the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) to revoke the licence granted to EDF – which they claim has resulted in nuclear mud dumping in the Severn Estuary.In 2018, a group of activists took EDF to court to stop 300,000 tonnes of alleged nuclear mud from a Somerset power station being disposed of just outside Cardiff. Now, the Welsh indie veterans have picked up the cause again.“We call on @The_MMO to stop EDF’s nuclear mud dumping,” the band tweeted on February 12.

Sigur Rós nearly a decade after he left, the band have announced on Instagram.Sveinsson was previously a member of the group from 1998, leaving in 2013 to “do something different”.The multi-instrumentalist was not replaced following his departure, with Jónsi telling Paste that year: “We never thought about getting somebody else to replace him. I think we just wanted to keep on with the three of us.”Sigur Rós have now shared a screenshot of a video call featuring Jónsi, Georg “Goggi” Holm and Sveinsson.

Mitski’s new album ‘Laurel Hell’ was the biggest-selling record in America in its first week of release, new figures have confirmed.The record, which was released on February 4, is currently at Number Five on the Billboard 200 chart, behind albums by Gunna, Yo Gotti and Morgan Wallen, as well as the Encanto soundtrack.Although it didn’t hit the top spot on the chart, ‘Laurel Hell’ did score the highest pure sales numbers of the week, Billboard has confirmed. Of 36,000 album-equivalent units, 24,000 were sales – as opposed to units made up by streaming figures or purchases of individual tracks.Of that number, 17,000 sales were on vinyl – giving Mitski the biggest sales week for vinyl since Adele’s ’30’ sold 35,000 copies in seven days last year.In the UK, ‘Laurel Hell’ reached Number Six on the Official UK Albums Chart and Number Three on the Official UK Independent Albums Chart.In a four-star review of the album, NME said: “With each record, Mitski’s sound has grown bigger and grander […] Much like ‘Be The Cowboy’ stand-out ‘Nobody’, ‘Laurel Hell’ often pairs darkness with strobing lights (see: ‘Should’ve Been Me’ and ‘Love Me More’).

Kurt Vile has shared psychedelic visuals for his new single ‘Like Exploding Stones’, as well as announcing details of his next studio album ‘(watch my moves)’. Foals have shared the video for their latest single ‘2am’, which opens with frontman Yannis Philippakis out drinking before he’s then dragged into wild – and elaborately choreographed – hedonism.The clip was directed by Tanu Muiño, best known for her work on pop megahits like Lil Nas X‘s ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ and Cardi B‘s ‘Up‘.
