Foals have teased new music as well as their plans for their upcoming Reading & Leeds set while at Lollapalooza 2023.While speaking to NME backstage at this year’s edition of Chicago’s famous music festival, Foals shared that they were working on some new music. Frontman Yannis Philippakis said: “We’ve got a song that is unfinished that we call ‘Tranquillity’, it’s not going to be called that in the future but we were all listening to it and vibing with it the other day.”He continued: “It was something we were writing and recording around the time of ‘Life Is Yours’ and it didn’t quite fit but it’s really exciting and is kind of the coolest thing we’ve ever written so we might try to finish that at some point.”The band also shared what they have coming up for their headlining set at Reading & Leeds later this month.“We’re getting chased for the setlist which feels a bit early since it’s a few weeks away,” said Philippakis.

Foals’ Yannis Philippakis has announced more UK shows with Yannis & The Yaw.The new run of dates comes as the band recently shared their critically acclaimed debut EP, ‘Lagos Paris London’, and celebrated the release with a number of intense live shows.During the gigs, the collective mixed up tracks from the EP, played Afrobeat-inspired jams, and took on late collaborator and Fela Kuti legend Tony Allen’s track ‘Afro-Disco Beat’.Now, following the huge response to the shows – which included a sold-out gig at London’s KOKO – Philippakis and co have announced details of a second headline tour.The new run of shows sees three new dates scheduled, all of which commence after their previously announced set at the Trans Musicales Festival in France (December 7). The new shows kick off with a stop at the New Century Hall in Manchester on December 9, followed by a show at the Marble Factory in Bristol the following night.The third new date sees them wrap up in London, with a gig scheduled for the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on December 11.

Foals’ Yannis Philippakis has shared a new video from his project with the late Tony Allen, Yannis & The Yaw.The clip, which you can view below, soundtracks the song ‘Clementine’ which featured on their recent EP ‘Lagos Paris London’.According to a press release, “it is a video postcard” of their recent tour “its grainy photography establishing instant nostalgia for the recent past uniting live footage, rehearsals and behind-the-scenes to document the first chapter in the Yaw’s touring adventures”.Philippakis said of the song: “It’s a slightly lighter shade on the record. I wanted it to feel like a French film from the ‘60s, like a sun-bleached Truffaut film with lots of longing, nostalgia and romance.

Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis has spoken to NME about making his theatrical debut by penning the music for new play The Confessions, as well as his long-mooted project with the late Tony Allen.Having opened at London’s National Theatre last week before a press showing last night (October 23), The Confessions is an emotional, gut-wrenching and powerful play written and directed Alexander Zeldin – telling the story of his mother’s life across eight “tumultuous” decades across two continents and a series of complex relationships.Philippakis and Zeldin have known each other since their days at school, when they would sneak away to smoke together on a nearby riverbank. Speaking with NME, the artist explained how the director had “a reputation that preceded him a bit” as someone “ferociously intelligent, but with a naughty streak”.“We’ve just been in each other’s lives for a long time, but with differing orbits and different worlds,” Philippakis told NME.
