It’s not often that something IMMEDIATELY grasps you where you stand like his music did. It only happens a few times in one’s life.“Ethan’s musicality and touch has magic in it.

The Cure have shared details of a new charity band t-shirt that provides support for Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion of the country.Blue-and-yellow-coloured t-shirts bearing the band’s logo are now available to purchase for £20 here. The hues reflect the colours of the Ukrainian flag.All net proceeds will go to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), a UN agency mandated to aid and protect refugees.

Be Your Own Pet have reformed for their first live performances since breaking up in 2008.The influential indie-garage band have reunited for North American support slots on Jack White’s freshly announced ‘The Supply Chain Issue Tour’.In addition to to appearing on the bill for one of White’s shows at Atlanta’s The Tabernacle (April 28), the band will also support the former White Stripes frontman at Ascend Amphitheater in their shared home base of Nashville on April 30.Singer Jemina Pearl said of her band’s reformation: “I’ve had a Be Your Own Pet sized hole in my heart for the past 14 years. We shared something life-changing together, so to get to go back and do it again as adults feels like coming home.”“We are here to have fun and enjoy the good times,” added guitarist Jonas Stein.

Fontaines D.C. are gearing up to perform a free show in Dublin for St Patrick’s Day.Set to take place at The Complex in Dublin this Thursday (March 17), the show, which will also be live-streamed, will see the five-piece premiere tracks from their upcoming third album ‘Skinty Fia’, which is due to arrive next month.The event, put on in collaboration with whiskey brand Jameson, will also include a short film about the band’s Dublin roots, looking at their formative years.“This St. Patricks Day, we’ll be doing a live stream with @jamesonwhiskey from Dublin, to you, wherever you are,” Fontaines D.C.

Florence + The Machine have announced three intimate UK shows for next month.The London band, who detailed their fifth album ‘Dance Fever’ last week, will take to the stage at Newcastle’s O2 City Hall (April 15), Blackburn’s King George’s Hall (16) and London’s Theatre Royal (19).Per an official listing, Florence Welch and co. “will play music from the new album for the first time, along with some favourites from previous albums”.

David Byrne says he believes that Spotify is “making artists uncomfortable” around the scandal relating to COVID misinformation shared on Joe Rogan’s podcast.Earlier this year, Rogan and Spotify were heavily criticised for sharing misinformation about the coronavirus vaccine on the exclusive podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, which led to artists including Neil Young and Joni Mitchell removing their music from the service.Byrne, who in 2013 publicly criticised the “pittance” artists are paid in terms of royalties from streaming services like Spotify, and claimed he had pulled as much of his catalogue as possible from the service, was asked his thoughts on the ongoing scandal in a new interview with the Guardian.“There’s been all these things about platforms having … let’s say questionable or controversial content [and] putting out misinformation or outright lies or … not exactly hate speech, but things that are making a lot of artists uncomfortable,” he said.“And it’s pretty tough to do anything to help ameliorate that unless you’re a Drake or Taylor Swift, or those kinds of artists. It’s pretty hard for the rest of us to have influence.”Byrne added: “A handful of mega, mega artists are doing really well, and many of the others – especially emerging artists – are having a tough time with it.

Sam Fender was the musical guest on last night’s (March 12) episode of Saturday Night Takeaway, continuing his love affair with local Geordie heroes Ant and Dec.Appearing as a surprise guest for the ‘End Of The Show Show’ segment of the pair’s ITV show, Fender performed his hit single ‘Seventeen Going Under’ before ending the show with a cover of Mark Knopfler‘s ‘Local Hero’, which has become an anthem in the North East.Along with footage of the ‘Seventeen Going Under’ performance, which saw Fender and his band performing in the dark before Ant and Dec comically plugged the lights in half way through, video has been shared of Dec cheering Fender’s drummer through a solo to end the ‘Local Hero’ rendition.Check out the videos below.Geordies taking over…..

Phoebe Bridgers has shared a new live version of her track ‘Chinese Satellite’ – you can listen to it below.The original song appears on the Los Angeles singer-songwriter’s second album ‘Punisher’, which came out in June 2020.Yesterday (March 11), Bridgers released an acoustic rendition of ‘Chinese Satellite’ as part of indie label Secretly Canadian’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
