British DJ Graeme Park has announced the death of his 18-year-old son Oliver after a “year long battle with cancer”. Graeme, who is famed for his role at The Hacienda and the evolution of club culture, shared a family statement on social media from his wife Jenny and Oliver’s twin brother Ben.The statement, which the family shared on Wednesday evening, said: “Today our hearts were broken forever. “After a year long battle with cancer, it finally got the better of you, our amazingly strong and gorgeous boy.

Sean Ono Lennon has opened up about John Lennon‘s lasting impact on his mother Yoko Ono, saying that she “never has moved on from that relationship”.During a new interview on BBC Radio 6 Music, Sean spoke about his father when discussing the special box set release of ‘Mind Games’, the 1973 fourth solo album by the late Beatles musician.Host Chris Hawkins asked Sean whether he had learned anything new about his parents while putting the collection together. Courteeners, English Teacher and Louis Tomlinson were among the acts to be honoured at the first-ever Northern Music Awards.The inaugural ceremony – hosted by the UK’s largest music therapy charity, Nordoff And Robbins – took place at the Albert Hall in Manchester last night (April 23) to celebrate northern artists, festivals, venues and industry figures.Presented by BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Chris Hawkins, the event featured live performances from Courteeners frontman Liam Fray, as well as English Teacher, Lisa Stansfield, The K’s and more.Guest presenters from the region included former Manchester United footballer Gary Neville, New Order‘s Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Norris, and Grimsby-born actor Thomas Turgoose (This Is England). ‌ Neville awarded Courteeners with the Band Of The Year prize.
