Liam Gallagher has responded to Andy Bell‘s recent comments about a potential Oasis reunion.Bell played bass for the Britpop band between 1999 and 2009, before joining Gallagher’s group Beady Eye. During an interview about Ride‘s new album ‘Interplay’ and their upcoming tour, Bell said Oasis would “probably” get back together at some point.“Yeah, they probably will.

Check out the lead single ‘Lonely Town’ below.The record marks the first venture into a full solo release from Queralt, and is set for release on June 13 via Sonic Cathedral.In terms of the sound, the record is set to capture a beautiful yet brooding collection of nine songs, and hones in on elements of shoegaze to capture darkly textured soundscapes similar to that of M83 and Sigur Rós.It also contains a number of collaborators, including labelmate Emma Anderson (formerly of Lush and Sing-Sing) and Verity Susman (Electrelane, MEMORIALS).Today (March 26), Queralt has shared the first preview of the record in the form of the lead single ‘Lonely Town’.

Andy Bell has announced a new solo album called ‘Pinball Wanderer’, featuring his former Oasis bandmate and longtime collaborator Gem Archer.The Ride and Mantra of the Cosmos member is due to release his third solo record on Friday February 28 via Sonic Cathedral. Ride’s Andy Bell has weighed in his thoughts on the possibility of an Oasis reunion, and said that he thinks Noel and Liam Gallagher “probably will” get back together.The comments arose in a new interview that the musician took part in with Virgin Radio, where he spoke about his upcoming tour with the recently reunited band, Ride.While emerging into the spotlight with bands Ride and Hurricane, Bell went on to join the Britpop icons after both previous projects split – taking on the role of bassist, despite being a guitarist originally. He joined the line-up in 1999 and remained in the group until the band split in 2009.“I got into [Oasis] very early on, and I saw some really early gigs of theirs… I saw them upwards of ten times all around the country, so yeah, I’m a huge fan,” he told the outlet, going on to recall how he eventually joined the band.“It was a couple of years after Ride split, and I was in a new band called Hurricane.

Mantra Of The Cosmos – the new group featuring Shaun Ryder (Happy Mondays, Black Grape), drummer Zak Starkey (The Who, Oasis), guitarist Andy Bell (Oasis, Ride) and Bez (Happy Mondays, Black Grape) – have shared their new single ‘X (Wot You Sayin?)’ and spoken to NME about their forthcoming plans.The collective were formed by Starkey – who is the son of Ringo Starr – after he initially tried to work on a krautrock project with ex-Kraftwerk member Karl Bartos during the pandemic.“I wanted him to produce it and write the lyrics because I really like his solo work and what he did with Kraftwerk,” Starkey, who is at pains to point out that Mantra are not a supergroup, told NME over Zoom. “He’s got really mad words and he can think outside the box.

Snail Mail (aka Lindsey Jordan) and Soccer Mommy covered Avril Lavigne‘s ‘I’m With You’ during a concert in Baltimore over the weekend.The pair teamed up as part of Snail’s Mail’s five night ‘Valentine Fest’ residency at the Ottobar in her hometown.During her set on Saturday (February 11), which saw her share the bill with Soccer Mommy, Feeble Little Horse and Animal Collective member Geologist, Jordan covered Ride‘s ‘Vapour Trail’.She was then joined by Soccer Mommy during the encore for Lavigne’s 2002 hit ‘I’m With You’. Andy Bell has surprise-released an EP of remixes from his recent solo album ‘Flicker’, and announced that two further EPs – one comprising acoustic versions of ‘Flicker’ songs, and one comprising covers – will be released next month.Available to stream now – with an already-sold-out vinyl release slated to land sometime next month – ‘I Am A Strange Loop’ features six new takes on ‘Flicker’ tracks, contributed by the likes of David Holmes (who offers a ‘Radial Mycolog’ remix of ‘The Sky Without You’), Maps (who remixed ‘It Gets Easier’), Bdrmm (‘Way Of The World’) and A Place To Bury Strangers (‘World Of Echo’).Listen to the full EP below:Bell’s next two releases will arrive in a matter of weeks. Ride‘s Andy Bell has shared a new cover of Pentangle’s ‘Light Flight’ as a B-side for a new single – check it out below.The track comes as part of a new single called ‘Lifeline’, which appears on Bell’s recent solo album ‘Flicker’.Discussing ‘Lifeline’, the former Oasis member said: “In my opinion it’s important to be there for people we love who have gone down rabbit holes, ready to accept them when they come back.“I hope and want to believe that they will be back from the wilderness at some point.”Listen to ‘Lifeline’ and the cover of ‘Light Flight’ below.‘Flicker’ followed Bell’s 2020 solo debut ‘The View From Halfway Down’ and was released on February 11 via Sonic Cathedral.Speaking about ‘Flicker’, Bell explained in a statement: “When I think about ‘Flicker’, I see it as closure. Most literally, on a half-finished project from over six years ago, but also on a much bigger timescale.“Some of these songs date back to the ’90s and the cognitive dissonance of writing brand new lyrics over songs that are 20-plus years old makes it feel like it is, almost literally, me exchanging ideas with my younger self.”“The ‘flicker’ I’m talking about in the lyrics of ‘Something Like Love’ is that flame that makes a person who they are,” Bell said of the track.

Ride are set to join Richard Ashcroft at this year’s South Facing Festival.Back in March, it was announced that the former Verve frontman would make a headline appearance at the festival at Crystal Palace Bowl on Saturday, August 6.Now, Ride have been announced as Ashcroft’s “special guests” on the day, alongside Steve Lamacq, BDRMM, Tess Parks and Alan McGee.At the event, Ride will celebrate the 30th anniversary release their classic 1990 debut album ‘Nowhere’ and will perform the album in full at the event.South Facing Festival, which launched last year, runs between July 29 and August 21. Ride have announced new reissues of their early albums and EPs to mark their 30th anniversary as a band.The Oxford group are set to re-release their seminal 1990 debut ‘Nowhere’ and its follow-up ‘Going Blank Again’ (1992) on November 4 via Wichita Recordings.Per a press release, the former will be pressed on on blue vinyl with a gatefold sleeve and embossed artwork; the latter, meanwhile, is available on double orange vinyl with a gatefold sleeve.Additionally, fans will be able to get their hands on Ride’s first four EPs – ‘Ride’, ‘Play’, ‘Fall’, and ‘Today Forever’ – on a new double white vinyl compilation called ‘4 EPs’. This comes with a 16-page booklet featuring archive photos and an essay by Sonic Cathedral’s Nathaniel Cramp.All the original audio has been reworked and refined, with the upcoming reissues also available on CD and streaming services.
