Set to be held tonight (December 5), the show is held at the Camden venue as it was the last venue the former Screaming Trees played in the city, and the date marks what would have been his 60th birthday.Gahan and Lanegan became friends after touring together in the ’00s, before going on to record together with Soulsavers and Humanist.Opening up about his time working with the grunge icon, who passed away in February 2022 at the age of 57, the Depeche Mode singer also told NME about what’s next for the band.Reflecting on life after the 2023 tour he and bandmate Martin Gore embarked on to celebrate the release of ‘Memento Mori’, Gahan said: “To be honest it’s taken me quite a while just to recover after the tour… It was fantastic and ended up being more than what Martin and I could have imagined in many ways.”He continued: “It was a great tour and I’ve just spent the last five months since I got home just trying to get back into my regular life of family, friends, a little bit of writing here and there, but to be honest I’m not that inspired by anything.”Later, he went on to reveal that he had begun the writing process again, but not with any plans for new material in mind.

Kelly Lee Owens talks new album ‘Dreamstate’ and the “family” of Dirty Hit’s new spin-off dance label
Kelly Lee Owens has spoken to NME about her new album ‘Dreamstate’’, being driven by the spirit of collaboration, and releasing it on Dirty Hit’s new spin-off dance label. The Welsh musician and producer’s latest LP will be released later this week (October 18), and is the first record to be released via dh2 (Dirty Hit’s new electronic imprint being spearheaded by The 1975’s George Daniel).“Ultimately it’s arriving at a place in my life where I accept who I am,” Owens told NME, “and the parts of me that had been shamed before: it’s derogatory to be a daydreamer, and actually the happiest parts of myself are when I’m either in those states alone, or those states alone allow me to come together with other people in those states.”She continued: “It’s the thing that I almost enjoy the most about being human, ironically, is finding a dreamstate, and I feel on a bigger collective level, it’s also what’s needed most as a reminder of the importance of taking the time away to dream and to be in that place. Music, for me, has always been a direct door to get to a dreamstate.”Check out our full interview below, where Owens tells NME about the universe of ‘Dreamstate’, exploring lyrics with Charli XCX, her expanded team of collaborators on the album (including Bicep, The Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands and George Daniel) as well as her time touring with Depeche Mode and the musical influence of Madonna’s seminal ‘Ray of Light’ – the latter was something she simply “could not get away from”.NME: Hey Kelly. When did work on ‘Dreamstate’ begin?Owens: “The track ‘Sunshine’ was made in the final sessions for [2020 album] ‘Inner Song’, around the time that I was making ‘Luminous Spaces’, the remix with Jon Hopkins.

Iggy Pop and Trevor Horn share feral cover of Depeche Mode’s ‘Personal Jesus’
Iggy Pop has joined forces with Trevor Horn to share a gritty cover of ‘Personal Jesus’ – check it out below.Shared by Depeche Mode back in 1990, the track has since gone on to be a fan favourite for the band and has been covered by an extensive list of other famous faces, including Johnny Cash. Now, Iggy Pop has become the latest to cover the iconic track and joined forces with Trevor Horn to create a more gritty, rustic version of the original.Surprisingly, the cover alongside the renowned record producer and musician marks the first time that the former frontman of The Stooges has put his name to the track – and the finished product sees him put a noticeably more rockabilly spin on the original.Check it out below.Shared as part of Horn’s forthcoming covers album, ‘Echoes – Ancient & Modern’, the cover with Iggy Pop stemmed from the singer wanting to try recording various approaches to his performance and stitch them all together to create a more rustic final result.“[Iggy] said: ‘I’ve heard the track, I’m going to do three takes where I gradually get crazier and crazier and then a fourth take where I speak it and that will be it. You don’t mind if I run my own session?’ I said, ‘No, go ahead’, and that’s exactly what he did,” said Horn, speaking about the approach (via Stereogum).“It’s Iggy, after all.

Watch The Anchoress pay homage to Depeche Mode on new cover of ‘Enjoy The Silence’
The Anchoress, aka Catherine Anne Davies, has paid homage to Depeche Mode in her stripped-back new cover of ‘Enjoy The Silence’ – watch the video on NME first below. The cover is the latest from Davies’ new album, ‘Versions’, released today (October 6) – a project that has seen her re-imagine ten songs by artists including Manic Street Preachers, The Cure, Nirvana, Nico and Halsey. The latest cover is accompanied by a video directed by JJ Eringa and is a scene-by-scene recreation of the original video released by Depeche Mode in 1990 and created by Anton Corbijn.Speaking to NME about the new song and video, Davies said: “The concept behind the album was for me to flex my production and arrangement skills and revisit classic songs to challenge the listener to think about them in a new way, so when JJ suggested to me that we attempted a loving frame by frame recreation of the original video for Depeche Mode’s ‘Enjoy The Silence’ it seemed like the perfect fit for the intentions of the project.“The original video had a much more impressive travel budget than we had but with the ingenuity of director JJ Eringa…we were able to pretty much approximate every shot from Anton Corbijn’s original video. Half was shot on a DIY green screen in my manager’s living room while the other half was shot guerilla style around the local countryside.
