It’s official – the poster for Disney’s forthcoming The Little Mermaid is out, giving fans a holiday treat in advance of next May’s theaterical release.

Depeche Mode have announced the acts that will join them on the UK and European leg of their ‘Memento Mori’ tour in 2024.Announced on Instagram today (October 31), the band shared that there will be four different artists joining them across the 32 dates that take place between January and April 2024.Nadine Shah will support the band for the UK dates in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow, as well as in Dublin, Antwerp, Amsterdam and Copehagen. Zack Sharf Digital News Director Prince Eric will not be forcing himself on Ariel through song in Disney’s upcoming live-action “The Little Mermaid,” directed by Rob Marshall. Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who wrote the music for the 1989 animated movie, returned to work on the 2023 live-action remake and updated some of the song lyrics so they wouldn’t be outdated when it comes to consensual relationships. “There are some lyric changes in ‘Kiss the Girl’ because people have gotten very sensitive about the idea that [Prince Eric] would, in any way, force himself on [Ariel],” Menken recently told Vanity Fair. “We have some revisions in ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ regarding lines that might make young girls somehow feel that they shouldn’t speak out of turn, even though Ursula is clearly manipulating Ariel to give up her voice.”

Alan Menken, who composed Disney’s most recognizable scores and songs, really enjoyed collaborating with Lin-Manuel Miranda on the live-action version of The Little Mermaid.

Disney’s animated “The Little Mermaid” is really beloved, and most of Disney’s live-action remakes of their animated classics have grossed over $1 billion at the box office and have been generally adored too. But “The Little Mermaid,” the live-action reimagining of the studio’s Oscar-winning animated musical classic that dares to star a black girl as Ariel, Halle Bailey (“grown-ish”), has been met with, let’s say, some backlash and controversy from those corners of the Internet.

It’s been a while since Disney released a live-action remake exclusively in theatres. Whether that’s a good or bad thing is up to the audience, but Rob Marshall’s “The Little Mermaid” marks Disney’s first theatrical-exclusive live-action remake since Jon Favreau’s “The Lion King” was released in 2019.
