Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver defend Rachel Zegler in ‘Snow White’, saying Jonah Platt can “go fuck himself”

Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver have defended Rachel Zegler for her leading role in Snow White, criticising Jonah Platt for blaming the actor for the film’s poor performance. The two spoke about the latest Disney live-action remake in a new episode of the Miss Me? podcast, and explored how the leading actor has been getting a huge negative response – in part due to voicing her support for Palestine. The film has had a disastrous opening in cinemas, making just $42.2million in the US, well below expectations considering the film’s estimated $240–270million budget. It would also achieve one of the lowest scores ever on IMDb (Internet Movie Database), currently sitting at 1.6 out of 10 from user-submitted ratings. As well as some criticising Zegler for her political views, some backlash has come due to her being a Latina actor cast in the role, which in past iterations has been a character described as having “skin as white as snow”.Among the critics was Jonah Platt, the son of the film’s producer Marc Platt, who hit out act the actor as being “narcissistic” and “dragging her personal politics in the middle of promoting a movie — for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for”.

‘Snow White’ Producer’s Son Says Rachel Zegler Voicing Her ‘Personal Politics’ ‘Hurt the Film’s Box Office’ in Since-Deleted Instagram Post
William Earl Jonah Platt, the son of “Snow White” producer Marc Platt, has laid blame for the Disney remake’s lackluster box office performance on its star Rachel Zegler, who he accused of “narcissism” for “dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting a movie.” The 38-year-old Platt, best known as the host of the podcast “Being Jewish” and to film and television audiences for his two-episode role in Netflix’s “Uncoupled” and his performance as Tip Tribby in “Being the Ricardos,” posted a since-deleted response to an Instagram commenter that had shared reporting that Platt’s father flew to New York City to “reprimand” Zegler during the film’s promotional cycle. Per a Variety report, producer Marc Platt’s meeting with the film’s star was a failed attempt to get the actor to delete a social media post reading “and always remember, free palestine.” “Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to to fly across the country to reprimand his 20 year old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for,” Jonah Platt wrote.

Disney forced to beef up Gal Gadot’s security after ‘Snow White’ star got death threats over pro-Israeli comments: report
“Snow White” star Gal Gadot because of her outspoken support for Israel, according to a bombshell new report. The 39-year-old Israeli actress, who served in the Israel Defense Forces, received an influx of death threats when her “Snow White” co-star Rachel Zegler, 23, shared a pro-Palestinian message on social media, per Variety. In an August 2024 thread on X thanking fans for their support of the unveiled first trailer for the live-action remake of Disney’s 1937 animated classic, she added, “and always remember, free palestine.” Zegler’s remarks “made the rounds” at Disney, as Variety put it, reportedly leaving many at the House of Mouse shocked that Zegler would infuse a political statement into her promotion of the $270 million film.Concern reached such a fever pitch that an executive at Disney allegedly contacted Zegler’s team to convey their distress, while “Snow White” producer Marc Platt reportedly went to New York to speak with the “West Side Story” actress in person.Death threats against Gadot “spiked” after Zegler’s “free palestine” post, according to Variety, leaving Disney no choice but to pick up the bill for additional security to protect the “Wonder Woman” star.“She didn’t understand the repercussions of her actions as far as what that meant for the film, for Gal, for anyone,” one insider told the outlet of Zegler. The Post reached out to Gadot’s rep for comment. The young actress again found herself in hot water over a social media post following Donald Trump’s election victory in November.
