Depeche Mode kicked off the 2024 leg of their ‘Memento Mori’ tour at The O2 in London last night (Monday January 22). This Thursday (December 5), a tribute gig for Lanegan will be held at The Roundhouse – the venue of his last live appearance in the city – marking what would have been the legend’s 60th birthday.The night will feature performances from friends and collaborators including Gahan, QOTSA’s Josh Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen, Chrissie Hynde, Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie, Greg Dulli, The Kills‘ Alison Mosshart, Soulsavers and more, all delivering songs from throughout Lanegan’s catalogue.Gahan became friends with Lanegan when they toured together in the ’00s, before going on to record together with Soulsavers and with the Depeche Mode man singing songs penned by and for Lanegan with Humanist.Having also lost Depeche Mode’s Andy Fletcher in the run-up to recording the band’s 2023 album ‘Memento Mori‘, Gahan explained how he was feeling the profound impact of his friends’ passing.“It’s time; you start thinking about time,” he told NME of the shadow cast by Lanegan’s death.

Depeche Mode have announced new UK, Ireland and European tour dates for 2024 – find all the details below.The duo – comprising Dave Gahan and Martin Gore – are due to hit the road once again early next year in support of their 15th and most recent album, ‘Memento Mori’, which came out in March.Having played at London’s Twickenham Stadium last month as part of a wider European tour, Depeche Mode will return to the capital for a concert at The O2 on January 22, 2024. Further gigs are scheduled for Birmingham (January 24), Manchester (29) and Glasgow (31).The band will then head to Dublin on February 3 before returning to Europe for concerts in numerous cities, including Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon and Budapest.

To coincide with the announcement, Rose has released the video for ‘Faithful’, which was directed by Ben Howley.The New York-based musician worked on the new album over a two-week period in late 2020 with Yves Rothman, who has also recently produced records for Blondshell and Bartees Strange.Rose’s breakout single ‘Muddled Man’ arrived in October 2022, swiftly followed by ‘Angel’ the following month. Both tracks, alongside ‘Faithful’, will appear on ‘Eye Of Glass’.

Tickets went on sale this morning (November 12) and sold out straight away.
