This Thursday (December 5), a tribute gig for Lanegan will be held at The Roundhouse – the venue of his last live appearance in the city – marking what would have been the legend’s 60th birthday.The night will feature performances from friends and collaborators including Gahan, QOTSA’s Josh Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen, Chrissie Hynde, Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie, Greg Dulli, The Kills‘ Alison Mosshart, Soulsavers and more, all delivering songs from throughout Lanegan’s catalogue.Gahan became friends with Lanegan when they toured together in the ’00s, before going on to record together with Soulsavers and with the Depeche Mode man singing songs penned by and for Lanegan with Humanist.Having also lost Depeche Mode’s Andy Fletcher in the run-up to recording the band’s 2023 album ‘Memento Mori‘, Gahan explained how he was feeling the profound impact of his friends’ passing.“It’s time; you start thinking about time,” he told NME of the shadow cast by Lanegan’s death.

Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie has spoken out about his position in society and seemingly taken a pop at Blur‘s Alex James.The frontman, who was brought up in a working class environment, has written an essay accompanying the band’s new album ‘Come Ahead’, which is out today (November 8).In it he said: “I find myself in the strange position of being both inside and outside of [class],” which is something he “wrestles with”.In a new interview with The i, he elaborated on the statement adding: “’Wrestles’ might be overstating the case but if you’re in a successful band, you get invited to things, know people from different classes, you’ve experienced things. It’s not like you’re trying to be like the guy from Blur [Alex James] hanging out with David Cameron and what’s his name, the guy that does the driving? [Jeremy Clarkson].“That’s obviously social climbing going on there, right? I don’t mean it like that.

Primal Scream has revealed plans for a 14-show tour across the UK and Ireland, in anticipation of their 12th studio album, Come Ahead. The 2025 tour will see the Scots icons, famed for their third album, 1991’s Screamadelica, perform at venues such as London’s Eventim Apollo, Glasgow’s O2 Academy, and Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre.

Primal Scream have shared a new single called ‘Deep Dark Waters’ – you can listen to it below.The brooding track is the second preview of the band’s 12th studio album ‘Come Ahead’ (their first full-length project in eight years), which will be released on November 8 via BMG (pre-order here).Frontman Bobby Gillespie delivers a cautionary tale on the song, warning that “all systems are failing” as the ship veers far off course. “We go like cattle to the slaughter/ To the slaughter,” he adds.Elsewhere, Gillespie refers to “echoes from the past” and “fear[s] the worst shall surely find us“.Per a press release, ‘Deep Dark Water reflects “the dark undercurrent of our times” but offers hope that “there is still time to change course”.

Primal Scream have collaborated on a new shirt design for a Palestinian refugee football team, based on their classic album ‘Screamadelica’.Frontman Bobby Gillespie confirmed the news in an Instagram video today (August 8), explaining that the team Lajee Celtic, who are a refugee club based in the Aida Camp in Bethlehem in Palestine’s West Bank.The shirt has been designed in conjunction with clothing brand A Number Of Names, as well as The Green Brigade, a supporters group for Celtic FC, the club which Gillespie supports.“The camp has lived under the rule of Israeli military occupation since 1947,” Gillespie says in the video. “Yet despite these abominable conditions, the people of the camp find joyful resistance in the game of football.”A post shared by Primal Scream (@primalscreamofficial)“Football, the universal, democratic sport.

It’ll contain 11 new tracks, and is set to see songwriter, vocalist and frontman Bobby Gillespie deliver some of his most personal and emotionally-open work of his career.The writing process began back in 2022, and came during a time when Gillespie was unsure if he would make another Primal Scream album again.
