Dream Wife bassist Bella Podpadec has launched exclusive limited edition merch to help crowdfund their top surgery.They took to the band’s official Instagram today (January 26) to share that they have created a very limited edition blue t-shirt which features a pink unicorn playing the bass and the words “Not my body, I am somebody” (a line from Dream Wife’s 2018 song ‘Somebody’) on it as a way to raise money for their top surgery.The tee is priced at £25 and exclusively available on the band’s Bandcamp page. They are also 100 per cent certified organic cotton, oeko approved and vegan.According to Mayoclinic.org, top surgery is also “called gender-affirming surgery or gender-confirmation surgery” and “involves procedures that help better align the body with a person’s gender identity”, typically the surgical addition or removal of breast tissue.A post shared by bella podpadec (@b.ppod)Podpadec also announced that a portion of the sales will be donated to the charity Mermaids, which supports trans, non-binary and gender diverse children and young people as well as families and professionals involved in their care.“Life update: Bella here I’m going to get top surgery! & to help cover costs I have designed a very limited edition unicorn tee only available on our bandcamp page with the proceeds being split between my surgery and the charity Mermaids! Dream Wife have released their new single ‘Orbit’ from their forthcoming third album ‘Social Lubrication’ – as well as announcing details of a UK and US tour.‘Orbit’, produced by Dream Wife guitarist Alice Go and mixed by Alan Moulder, is a defiant song which they say was “written through the joy of jamming together and locking into the groove like a multi-limbed space-age organism.”They continued: “‘Orbit’ has a dance rock edge from the early ’00s of bands like New Young Pony Club and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Lyrically, it was inspired by post-lockdown London coming back to life and sharing a space through friendship, community and how each day you never know what’s in store for you or how a stranger can become someone close to you – for a day, a heartbeat, a phase, or a lifetime.” The new single follows their previous releases ‘Hot (Don’t Date A Musician)’ and ‘Leech’, all from the trio’s upcoming third album ‘Social Lubrication’ which is set for release on June 9 via Lucky Number.‘Social Lubrication’ is an entirely self-written and self-produced album by the trio.

The Horrors are among the 20 new additions to the 2022 line-up of London’s Wide Awake festival.The event, which made its debut last year, will return to Brockwell Park in south London from May 27-28.After recently announcing Primal Scream and Bicep as their 2022 headliners, Wide Awake has now added 20 more names to their bill for this year.As well as The Horrors, the likes of Dream Wife, Alex Cameron, Grove, Harry James, Katy J Pearson, KEG, Sorry, The Golden Dregs, The Lounge Society and The Umlauts have all joined the line-up for Wide Awake 2022.Croatian Amor, Elena Colombi, Fulu Miziki, Identified Patient, Kiara Scuro, Marcus Harris, Melts, Modern Woman and Vladimir Ivkovic round off the other new additions to the bill.These acts join the already confirmed likes of Caribou, Working Men’s Club, Leon Vynehall, Floating Points and Yard Act on the Wide Awake 2022 line-up.Tickets for this year’s festival are on sale now, and you can find them and more information about Wide Awake 2022 by heading here.

Back in February, organisers confirmed that the festival would be going ahead in 2021 in line with the government’s’ roadmap’ out of lockdown.Returning on Saturday, October 16, Live At Leeds has today (May 25) unveiled its first wave of artists for this year.

Dream Wife have announced the ‘DW Megamix’, a Bandcamp-exclusive project with contributions from Garbage’s Shirley Manson, Sleigh Bells, Nova Twins and more.The mixtape, which drops tomorrow (May 7), stands as “an ode to the support and friendship” the band have found over the years while touring. Nova Twins have shared a new Dream Wife remix of their single ‘Bullet’, as well as announcing details of a 2022 UK and European tour. Over the past four years Dream Wife have built a reputation as one of London's most exciting live acts, combining a punk snarl with brazen classic rock aesthetics. Their second album, So When You Gonna..., due out via Lucky Number on July 3, keeps the pace and pressure of their self-titled 2018 debut, but the second single from the record is a change of pace. "Hasta La Vista," premiering above alongside a music video pieced together from the band's childhood home footage, is poppier than anything the band have tried before, nodding to Blondie and returning to the girlband melodies of the mid-'90s.
