The Courteeners have teased “something big” for tomorrow (July 9).In a post on the band’s Instagram, captioned only “Tomorrow 6PM”, a number 17 bus flashes to read Middleton and Manchester, then simply “Out of service”. The smaller text above the destinations reads “Solitude of the Night Bus”.While little else has been shared, fans are already speculating it could be the title of a new long-awaited album, particularly after they debuted two new songs – one of which being ‘Solitude of the Night Bus’ – at Lytham Festival on July 5.Referencing their headline set in a new reel, frontman Liam Fray said: “Yes yes people, how are we all? Recovered from Friday yet – because I certainly fucking haven’t, but we’ll get there! Courteeners, English Teacher and Louis Tomlinson were among the acts to be honoured at the first-ever Northern Music Awards.The inaugural ceremony – hosted by the UK’s largest music therapy charity, Nordoff And Robbins – took place at the Albert Hall in Manchester last night (April 23) to celebrate northern artists, festivals, venues and industry figures.Presented by BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Chris Hawkins, the event featured live performances from Courteeners frontman Liam Fray, as well as English Teacher, Lisa Stansfield, The K’s and more.Guest presenters from the region included former Manchester United footballer Gary Neville, New Order‘s Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Norris, and Grimsby-born actor Thomas Turgoose (This Is England). ‌ Neville awarded Courteeners with the Band Of The Year prize. Courteeners have announced that they will head to Lytham Festival in 2024 for their one and only North of England show of the summer.The Manchester-based band – comprised of Liam Fray, Michael Campbell and Daniel Moores – are the first headlining act to be announced as part of the five-night festival, with their set slated to take place on Friday, July 5.The Kooks and indie pop singer Nieve Ella have been announced as opening support for the show date. Tickets for the festival date are set to go on general sale on Friday, November 24 at 9:30am local time.

Foals and DJ Rowena have been announced to join the line-up of the return of Club NME – which will be headlined by Courteeners next month.The return of the iconic club night was revealed last week, with news that Manchester indie veterans Courteeners will be taking to the stage for the first instalment. It will be held at EartH Hall in Hackney, London on Friday September 15.Now, it has been confirmed that the night will also feature two very special guest DJ sets from both DJ Rowena and British indie rock icons Foals.Known as a prolific broadcaster, presenter and DJ, Rowena’s can currently be heard on BBC Three Counties Radio, as well as indie DJ duties at Propaganda and her own show on London’s Boogaloo Radio.Indie giants Foals will also be taking to the decks for the opening night of Club NME, with the members set to deliver their own DJ set.
