Knowing where to look.”Unlike previous years, which included covers of famous tracks, this time around the retailer has lined up a performance of The Verve’s single ‘Sonnet’ – performed by frontman Richard Ashcroft.While the track was originally released over 25 years ago, Ashcroft also recorded an acoustic version of the single for his ‘Acoustic Hymns Vol 1’ solo album, which was shared back in October 2021.That record saw him reimagine songs from his back catalogue, and included a number of tracks from The Verve’s third studio album, ‘Urban Hymns’.

Oasis have confirmed Richard Ashcroft as a special guest for their 2025 UK and Ireland reunion tour.The singer-songwriter and former frontman of The Verve is set to open for the Britpop band at each date of the trek next summer – which includes seven nights at London’s Wembley Stadium and five gigs at Manchester’s Heaton Park.It follows recent reports that Ashcroft would be joining Liam and Noel Gallagher on the road for Oasis Live ’25, along with Cast (who have not yet been announced).In a statement about the forthcoming massive support slots, Ashcroft said: “As a fan from day one I was buzzing for many reasons when the news of Oasis’ return was announced.“I can say with no exaggeration that the songwriting talent of Noel and Liam’s pure spirit as a lead singer helped to inspire me to create some of my best work. Richard Ashcroft has announced details of a huge outdoor show, set to take place in London next summer.The announcement comes as the singer-songwriter has been revealed as the latest addition to the upcoming Kew The Music live music event, held in South West London.Set to take place over the summer, the week-long event will return to the UNESCO World Heritage site, Kew Gardens, between July 8 and July 12, 2024.For his appearance at next year’s instalment, Ashcroft will appear as the final headliner at the event and is set to take to the stage on the last day, Sunday, July 14.The upcoming set follows the two-time Ivor Novello winner’s work with The Verve over the years, as well as his run of solo albums, the most recent of which was his sixth solo LP, ‘Acoustic Hymns Vol. 1’, which arrived back in 2021.As well as Ashcroft, other artists set to appear as headliners for the 2024 edition of Kew The Music include pop singer Mika, who will headline the event on Tuesday, July 9, and Passenger who will take to the stage on Thursday, July 11.Following the recent completion of their 2023 reunion tour, JLS will also be taking to the stage at the London live music event on Friday, July 12, and the upcoming instalment will be opened by British horticulturist, broadcaster, and writer Monty Don, who will be taking part in an ‘Evening In Conversation’ event on Monday, July 8.The headliners for Wednesday (July 10) and Saturday (July 13) are set to be revealed at a later date, as are the guests set to join Ashcroft on the final night of next year’s edition.Tickets for the Richard Ashcroft show will go on pre-sale from tomorrow (December 19) at 10am GMT.

Check out the clip below.The singer recreated the visual accompaniment to the 1997 hit for a Sky Sports promotion of Formula One, and filmed the clips a couple of days before last week’s British Grand Prix 2023 kicked off.Instead of walking the streets of London as in the original video, Ashcroft is seen performing the track around the UK’s Silverstone Circuit, which hosted the first British Grand Prix in 1948.
