Luke Steele from Empire Of The Sun and The Sleepy Jackson has shared a new single ‘Armageddon Slice’, the latest cut from his forthcoming solo album ‘Listen To The Water’.Written during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, the track is carried by a bright yet pensive tone, with Steele meditating on mankind’s future above gentle fingerpicked acoustic guitar and warm synth pads.The accompanying music video sees Steele performing in waterways and forests. Watch it below:The video actually opens with a poignant message from Steele regarding his path to completing ‘Listen To The Water’.

Aldous Harding has shared a new single today, ‘Fever’ – listen to the track below.It’s taken from her upcoming new album ‘Warm Chris’ and follows on from the previously released ‘Lawn‘. The New Zealand musician will release the follow-up to her April 2019 record ‘Designer’ on March 25 via 4AD.‘Warm Chris’ was produced by John Parish (who also produced ‘Designer’ and Harding’s 2017 LP ‘Party’), with all 10 tracks being recorded at Rockfield Studios. Harding’s 2021 single ‘Old Peel’ does not make the final cut, however.The album includes contributions from Sleaford Mods’ Jason Williamson as well as H. Mandy Moore has announced details of her new album ‘In Real Life’ and shared the record’s title track – you can hear the new song below.The record will be the follow-up to Moore’s March 2020 album ‘Silver Landings’, and is set for release on May 13 via Verve Forecast.Produced by Mike Viola, ‘In Real Life’ – which has been previewed today (March 8) by the title track, which you can hear below – features a host of collaborators, including Moore’s husband, Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith, and his brother/bandmate Griffin Goldsmith, Lucius’ Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, keyboardist Lee Pardini (The War On Drugs) and bassist Sebastian Steinberg (Sharon Van Etten, Phoebe Bridgers).“So much of this record came from future-tripping on the next chapter of my life and what it might look like: what parenthood would feel like, how it would change everything, and all the excitement and trepidation that comes with that,” Moore said of ‘In Real Life’ in a statement.“At the same time it was about celebrating and acknowledging where we were at the moment and really trying to be completely present in the everyday — which is maybe the hardest part of the human condition.”Of the lyrical content of the album, Moore added: “To me it’s all about staying open, staying aware, staying sensitive and empathetic to the people around me.“There’s something about expressing myself through lyrics and melody that makes me feel whole, and I see it as a privilege to have that outlet. And even though this album is very specific to me and my experience — there’s songs about my baby, my husband, my father, my friends — I hope everyone’s able to see their own lives in it.

The Rills have shared their new single ‘World Leader’ – you can hear the track below.The song is taken from the Lincoln trio’s forthcoming new EP ‘Do It Differently’, which is set for release via Nice Swan Records on May 6 and can be pre-ordered here.The Rills, who were part of the NME 100 earlier this year, have previewed the EP this week by releasing ‘World Leader’, which frontman Mitch Spencer says is “an ironic bashing of modern politics”.“It’s a stab at our modern political figures, the way we digest media and the way voters express their views online,” he added of the track. Art Brut will perform their debut album ‘Bang Bang Rock & Roll’ in full at a special show in London in the autumn.The band are set to play their 2005 record in its entirety at the capital’s Heaven venue on October 27. They’ll also treat fans to live airings of “assorted greatest hits” from across their career so far.“Shouty talky indie music is fashionable again,” frontman Eddie Argos wrote to announce the one-off UK gig.

The xx have announced a new monthly show on Apple Music 1, Interludes Radio.The London trio – comprised of Romy Madley-Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie xx – will each present their own separate instalment of the series, kicking off with Sim’s edition this Thursday (March 10) at 2pm GMT.For the inaugural “horror-themed” episode, the singer and bassist will be joined by a host of friends and collaborators, including Florence Welch, Elton John, Sampha, John Glacier, director Yann Gonzalez, as well as his bandmates from The xx.Subsequent editions will be hosted by Jamie xx and Madley-Croft, though the exact air dates for these are yet to be confirmed.“We’ll be taking turns to host each episode and get into the things that inspire us individually,” The xx said in a joint statement. “An hour of music, guests and sneak peeks of what we’re all up to on our own and together.”You can tune into Interludes Radio live for free on Apple Music 1, and listen back on-demand with an Apple Music subscription.The xx’s most recent studio album, ‘I See You’, came out back in 2017.

Arcade Fire are continuing their cryptic build-up to the possible release of new music by sending out more postcards containing sheet music to their fans.Fresh speculation about the follow-up album to the band’s 2017 LP ‘Everything Now’ was sparked earlier this month after Arcade Fire fans began sharing images of mysterious postcards that they’d been sent in the mail.The postcards in question feature the words “we missed you” and a stave filled with musical notes, as well as a hand-drawn illustration of an eye which is currently serving as Arcade Fire’s profile picture on their social media channels and has also been spotted on posters in cities such as London and Toronto.Further cryptic postcards have now been sent out to members of Arcade Fire’s fanbase, featuring different musical notes on a stave – you can see images of the cards in question below.3/3/22 ARCADE FIRE. The Libertines have announced a one-off London arena show for this summer.Pete Doherty, Carl Barât and co. will headline the OVO Arena in Wembley, London on July 23 to mark the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut studio album, ‘Up The Bracket’ (2002).The special gig will see The Libertines perform the aforementioned record in its entirety, alongside other “classic” tracks. Glass Animals’ hit song ‘Heat Waves‘ has reached Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.It was released in 2020 and has spent a record-breaking 59 weeks on the chart, making it one of the longest runs to the top of the charts in history. Phoebe Bridgers has announced a new run of live shows as part of her ‘Reunion’ tour, including her first full UK tour dates since 2018.The singer-songwriter kicked off the US leg of her ‘Reunion’ tour last September, following the release of her 2020 album ‘Punisher’.Today (March 7), she’s unveiled more US dates as well as gigs in Canada, Europe, and her first UK and Ireland dates in almost four years.Beginning in Phoenix, Arizona on April 13, Bridgers tour will cross over to the Atlantic on June 20 for a show at Fairview Park in Dublin, Ireland. She will then take in Glasgow and Birmingham, followed by her previously announced Glastonbury performance, before heading out to mainland Europe.Bridgers will then come back to the UK on July 22 for Latitude Festival and couple of dates in Manchester and London; she will close out the tour with a few dates back in the States.“See you soon,” she wrote, sharing the dates on Instagram.Tickets go on sale at 10am GMT on Friday (March 11).

LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy has posted a lengthy update to fans, going into depth on the thinking behind a forthcoming series of mini-residencies to mark their 20th anniversary.Last month the group announced that they will play four nights in a row at Philadelphia’s Franklin Music Hall from March 28-31, and four nights at Boston’s Roadrunner from April 3-6.They have also announced plans for four shows at the O2 Academy in Brixton, on June 29 and from July 1-3. They follow a similar residency-style run of 17 shows at at New York City’s Brooklyn Steel last year.In a social media statement outlining the plans, Murphy expressed his difficulties balancing traditional touring schedules and the recording process. “You invest so much time, energy, and cost into ‘getting ready’ [for a tour] that you wind up touring for ages just to make it worthwhile… then you need a big break again.

Spiritualized have shared a soaring new song today (March 7) called ‘The Mainline Song’ – listen to it below.The track is the third to be lifted from Spiritualized’s upcoming album ‘Everything Was Beautiful’ which was inspired by J. Spaceman’s (aka Jason Pierce) experiences in lockdown, with the frontman saying: “I felt like I’d been in training for this my whole life.”‘The Mainline Song’ is said to have been “partly inspired by the protests happening in the US towards the end of the first Lockdown in 2020”, according to a press statement.The video, directed by Pierce, can be viewed below.A press release reports that ‘Everything Was Beautiful’ came together between 11 different studios, as well as Pierce’s own home, with the bandleader jamming out on a mind-boggling 16 instruments.“There was so much information on it that the slightest move would unbalance it, but going around in circles is important to me,” he said.

Earlier this month, the writer and musician dropped the song ‘Salt Coast’ after releasing ‘More Pressure’ in January.“Made a song with my good friend and mind-blowing artist Lianne La Havas,” Tempest explained of their latest offering in a statement.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who made her mainstream breakthrough as a solo artist in the early 2000s, Theaudience were active for three years, between 1996 and 1999.The Britpop group had a string of singles from their debut LP, including ‘If You Can’t Do It When You’re Young; When Can You Do It?’ and ‘A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed’. They disbanded after a set of demos recorded for their second album – which was never formally released – were rejected by Mercury Records.Now, guitarist Billy Reeves has announced a reissue of Theaudience’s self-titled album will arrive on April 30.

David Byrne is currently hosting a second Broadway run of his lauded American Utopia show, and brought a performance to CBS Saturday Sessions yesterday (March 5).The show originally started its second run in Manhattan last year but was forced to cancel dates towards the end of 2021 due to company members testing positive for COVID. Gang Of Four cancelled their gig in Toronto, Canada last night (March 4) after their tour bus caught fire.The band are currently in the middle of a North American tour, which has seen former Slint bassist David Pajo joining the band on guitar.Last night, they were set to perform at Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern, but took to social media to reveal the news that their bus had caught fire and shared photos of firefighters tending to the blaze. It’s currently unclear whether anyone was injured in the incident.TORONTO SHOW UPDATE: Due to an unforeseen incident, where our bus caught fire, the show is regretfully now cancelled and will no longer be taking place tonight at Horseshoe Tavern.
