Two senior pupils at Dalbeattie High have gained recognition for the quality of their photography. Anne Keeley and Thomas Jardine have received an award of commendation for their entries to the Tidespace Rural Youth Photography Competition.
Tidespace is an arts organisation based in Kirkcudbright and the competition aimed to inspire young people to reflect their experience of the local area through photography and offered a range of awards to the best submissions.
The photo by Anne Keeley showing Portpatrick harbour does just that, offering a breathtaking panorama of the village, as seen across the water, delivering a lot of compositional interest.
Thomas Jardine’s portraiture submission offers the viewer an equally satisfying image, but the bold lighting and strong tonal contrasts, as well as the enigmatic gaze, make for a more tantalising sense of mystery.
