EIGHTIES pop heart-throb Rick Astley is being taken to court in a row over an £800,000 apartment. The 54-year-old crooner — made a worldwide star by his hit Never Gonna Give You Up — is being sued by the owner of a leasehold flat.
Cornelia Rang has offered £24,000 to increase her 79-year lease by 90 years. But a lawyer for freeholder Rick, who owns the land in South Kensington, West London, branded it “so unrealistically low that it may be inferred that it was not a bona fide, or genuine, or realistic offer”.
Ms Rang’s lawyer asked Judge Simon Freeland to strike out Rick’s defence to her case at Central London county court. But the judge refused and adjourned the case, which will now go ahead at a later date.
