Albion Rovers boss Brian Reid says it was a disappointment to his squad that they couldn’t keep their momentum going against Stirling Albion due to bad weather.Stormy conditions over Friday made it the Forthbank pitch unplayable and Albion’s League Two trip to the Binos on Saturday was postponed.
A new date for the fixture is to be arranged. It’s particularly frustrating for Reid, who’s men already have a backlog of fixtures to catch up on.
This call-off comes after a 2-1 win over Edinburgh City last Tuesday.Kyle Doherty’s stunning finish claimed a vital win at Ainslie Park after City’s John Robertson cancelled out a Michael Travis own goal.Reid said of the Forthbank postponement: “We were wanting to play the game as we are already behind some of the other teams on games played.
So we are disappointed. It’s difficult for part-time players to have so many games.“But I suppose last year when we had a really small squad we were playing midweek games every week, almost, until the end of the season because it was shortened.“It didn’t impact us last season so hopefully it won’t impact us this season.
