Apple AirTag registered in his name concealed in her car.Javier Magarin, 28, was fired from the Miami-Dade police force after an investigation alleged he had 'wilfully and repeatedly' stalked his ex-girlfriend with one of the devices between March and April of this year.According to the Miami Herald, Magarin admitted via text he was using the AirTag to keep tabs on his ex.

After they broke up in late March, Magarin allegedly planted an AirTag in her car by hiding it in the rear bumper, and then began sending her text messages about her whereabouts.

Police said that when his ex-girlfriend threatened to get a restraining order, Magarin posted a picture on Instagram "depicting a hand holding a Glock handgun laying over the lower leg of a body and containing the comment/caption, 'I'll do it in style for you'." Magarin was fired from the force and charged with stalking and two counts of installing tracking devices after his ex heard a beeping noise coming from her car.

He has since been placed under house arrest. However, Magarin's lawyer, Giancarlo Casanova, denied the claims and said: "Officer Magarin is an exemplary officer and we look forward to addressing this with the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office."The FBI has warned people to be wary of the tracking devices, which are designed to keep tabs on belongings like keys or bags but are increasingly being misused by stalkers.
