pop-MMA.The main event of their latest show in Russia was an eventful showing between porn star Alexandra Piskun and controversial television personality Gogen Solntsen - and it lived up to the bizarre nature of the company.Pop-MMA began in the country in 2019, and consists of fights between non-professional athletes.Furthermore, most of the participants had never had the benefit of MMA coaching or any other fighting training.
The apparent goal of the promotion is to give people from common professions the chance to test themselves inside a fighting ring or a cage. And unlike most MMA companies, fights are intentionally arranged between opponents of different genders and weight categories, with organisers thinking nothing of matching up fighters who produce vastly different results on the scales. The fights are posted on YouTube and are accompanied by press-conferences with no shortage of trash talking, while the name 'pop-MMA' derives from the Fight Club movie where ordinary citizens fought after dark in semi-legal underground clubs.Should we be seeing a bit more of pop-MMA?
