a 15ft great white shark which vanished after the incident. Simon suffered "catastrophic injuries" in the attack and despite the best efforts of coastguards only scraps of his wetsuit have been found so far.
Australian authorities are now hunting for the shark responsible for the attack which was the first of its kind in the area for 59 years.
Thankfully, Simon's tragic attack was an extremely rare event but throughout history, there have been many terrifying interactions between humans and sharks.
