ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly has suggested that Sir Keir Starmer “needs a wee bit of a rocket up his bum”.The journalist reflected on what she perceived as missed opportunities on Starmer’s end when the Tory government had sometimes left him with an “open goal”.

Kelly, 62, opened up in an interview about her thoughts on Labour leader Starmer, as well as the government’s recent #partygate scandal.Amid the seemingly endless drama pertaining to the conservative party in recent weeks, Kelly was asked how she felt Starmer was handling it all.

She replied: “He seems a very decent man, but maybe needs a wee bit of a rocket up his bum?“Because there are times where there does seem to be an open goal and you’re like … Aaarrrrgghhh!” she yelled in frustration during her interview with the Guardian. In the wake of the revelations that Downing Street had allegedly enjoyed many boozy parties at a time when the rest of the country was locked down and forbidden from seeing their loved ones, Kelly seemed similarly frustrated.

She admitted that she was astonished by the news at first and insisted that an inquiry wasn’t really necessary, as the evidence was plain to see. “Just when you think you can’t make it up!” she told the interviewer.“Jesus, honestly, if they told me now that they’d had a masked ball for 1,000 people, like the Met ball or something, I’d just go: ‘Yeah, yep.’ “And why on earth do they need an inquiry into it? “If I said to you: ‘So, you went for a wee coffee today at Starbucks?’ you either did or you didn’t; you don’t need an inquiry into that!”While Prime Minister Boris Johnson has somewhat apologised for the upset he had caused, he has also maintained that he “didn’t believe he had broken any laws” and has refused.
