Marty Bauer, co-founder of the United Talent Agency, died on Friday at his home in Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
He was 74. Bauer began his career in the entertainment industry at the William Morris Agency in the business affairs department, before being promoted to agent.
He later formed the Marty Bauer Agency, and then the Bauer-Benedek Agency, with entertainment lawyer Peter Benedek, in 1986.
This company merged with Leading Artists in the early 1990s, which would become UTA. Among his early clients were Brian De Palma, Steven Soderbergh, the Coen brothers and Lawrence Kasdan.
