A fine Saturday of racing ahead as we are at Newbury, Kelso, Doncaster and Lingfield. We're very much on the road to the Cheltenham Festival now.
The feature at Newbury is the Grade 3 Greatwood Gold Cup (1:50).Dublin Four, who won at the track in November, appears to have been laid out for this prize and Paddy Brennan will be in the plate.
At Doncaster, we could get some Grand National clues in the Grimthorpe Chase (3:30). Cloth Cap will have to shoulder 11st 12lb in this showpiece and he’ll need to be winning this in order to justify a return to Aintree in a month’s time. There’s some top class hurdling to look forward to at Kelso. The Grade 2 Premier Novices Hurdle (1:32) has attracted nine runners.
Richmond Lake had the misfortune of running into Jonbon at Haydock Park in January and he’ll face a stiff examination from Cheltenham winner in North Lodge.Buveur D’Air is the star name in the Morebattle Hurdle (3:15).
