Shocking moment DHL cargo plane snaps in two on runway after making emergency landing
making an emergency landing in Costa Rica.The Boeing 757-200 plane, which was bound for Guatemala, touched down at Juan Santamaria International Airport at 10am on Thursday (April 7) after a failure in its hydraulic system.A clip shared on Twitter shows the moment the yellow aircraft skidding along the runway, taxiing and making a sharp turn, then coming to a stop.Just seconds after it stops on the runway, its fuselage appears to crumble, breaking the narrow-body airliner into separate pieces.The tail wing can be seen touching the ground as smoke billows out of the plane.The cameraman can be heard gasping and shouting as he watches the disaster unfold.Firefighters arriving at the scene quickly douse the smouldering plane with water and firefighting foam.According to Business Insider, DHL confirmed in a statement that a DHL Boeing 757-200 plane with the tail number JOS2716 had indeed "sustained damage" during its landing at the Costa Rican airport.The spokesperson said: "We are pleased to report that the crew were physically unharmed in the incident.
