He was scheduled to depart the company in December, but now exits with immediate effect following a board meeting on Thursday. In a filing to the Australian Stock Exchange, Seven West said that Jeff Howard, currently its chief finance officer, will take over as MD and CEO with effect from Friday.

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief The Sydney Film Festival will present ‘Jane Campion – Her Way,’ a retrospective of films by the pioneering director. Campion herself will appear in conversation with David Stratton on June 10 at the 2023 edition of the festival, its 70th anniversary presentation (June 7-18). Held in association with ACMI and the National Film and Sound Archive, ‘Jane Campion – Her Way’ will encompass screenings of all nine of Campion’s feature films, as well as a selection of her short films. The selection will go on to tour the ACMI in Melbourne (June 15 – July 2) and at NFSA in Canberra (July 20-30). “For our 70th edition, we wanted to present a retrospective commensurate with the milestone, reflecting the audacious and boundary pushing filmmaking synonymous with our festival and region. Campion is a ground-breaking filmmaker who has made a profound impact on cinema with her daring and unforgettable films,” said Sydney Film Festival director Nashen Moodley.

A letter - handwritten by the Queen before her death - is currently being held in a vault in Australia with strict instructions not to open it until 2085. The letter is addressed to the people of Sydney and is kept in the city's historic Queen Victoria Building.The Queen wrote the letter when the building had been fully restored in 1986 and now sits in a glass case inside a restricted area in its dome. It's said that not even her personal staff know what the letter contains and all that can be seen is who the letter is addressed to and the Queen’s strict instructions as to when the letter can be read.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have shared their full list of dates for a tour of their native Australia, in support of their collaborative 2021 album ‘Carnage’.News of the tour first arrived back in February, when Cave wrote about returning to Australia at the end of 2022 in a Red Hand Files letter. The following month the duo announced two dates at the remote Victorian location of Hanging Rock with Courtney Barnett.A full list of ‘Carnage’ tour dates were to follow, but the announcement was postponed following the tragic death of Cave’s son, Jethro.
